Movie Synopsis: When Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford) was 19, a bullet wound sidetracked his baseball career with the Cubs. Now, 16 years later, he’s getting another chance to play professional baseball, this time with the 1939 New York Knights. Coach Pop Fisher (Wilford Brimely) wants this last-place team to go to the World Series before he retires, so he leaves the 35-year-old rookie on the bench for most of the season. When Roy finally gets his chance to play, his first hit is a home run that knocks the cover off the ball, earning his a regular spot in the line-up.

QUESTION #3 - Read Job 1:8-2:10. How do you describe Job's response to the tragedy in his life? How did his wife respond? Ho would you respond in this situation?
QUESTION #4 - Read Job 1:8 again, but this time replace Job's name with your own (if you are a female, also change the pronouns to her and she and change man to woman, so it makes sense when you read it.) How would you feel if the Lord said this about you?
QUESTION #5 - James 5:11 says Job persevered. What things did he do to survive these terrible circumstances? What was the ultimate result of Job's perseverance? (See Job 42:1-6)
Read Romans 5:3-5; 2 Corinthians 4:7-9, 16-18; and Hebrews 10:35-36 9Also keep in mind what you learned about Job's trials) What role does God play in the cause or solution of our earthly problems?
Describe a time when you faced a challenging situation (like the one Roy Hobbs or Job faced) and won - or at least persevered. What lessons did you learn from this experiences? What things did you learn about God?
